Steps to Answered Prayer

This is my summarized sermon from church this past Sunday.

James 5:16

...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Effectual : producing or able to produce a desired effect (would also mean prayers can be effective or ineffective)

Fervent : having or showing great warmth or intensity of spirit, feeling, enthusiasm, etc.;

Availeth : To be of use or advantage; to answer or serve the purpose; to have strength, force, or efficacy sufficient to accomplish the object. (Making much power available)

1. Decide what you want from God.
James 1:5-8
Matthew 6:7
James 4:3

2. Read and meditate on scriptures that promise the answer you need.
Joshua 1:8
John 15:7

3. Ask god for the things you want.
James 4:2
John 16:24
Matthew 21:22
John 14:13
Psalm 2:8
Zechariah 10:1

4. Believe that you will receive.
Mark 11:23-24

5. Refuse to Doubt
Romans 4:20
James 1:5-8

6. Give God the praise
Romans 4:20
Philippians 4:6

When we are babies in Christ and/or just saved, we do not automatically know how to pray. Even Jesus' own disciples asked him to teach them how to pray (Luke 11:1). An effectual fervent prayer life can be learned!

Dear Lord,
I pray that you will abundantly blessed
all those that come across and read this post.
In Jesus' name,
Amen

Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY..

Outside my window... is a very cold winter day. So beautiful with the white sky.

I am thinking... I need to get busy Christmas shopping.

I am thankful for... all my friends that I've met over the years.

I am wearing... jeans and tshirt

I am remembering... the promises from my Bible.

I am going... to my daughter's Christmas concert Thursday.

I am currently reading... my bible.

I am hoping... for things to get better.

On my mind... my van that doesn't currently work.

Noticing that... it's all in your perspective.

Pondering these words... "You can remove the nails from the wood, but the holes are permanent".

From the kitchen... meatloaf YUM

Around the house... it's beginning to look alot like Christmas. We finally got our decorations and tree up!

One of my favorite things~ cuddling on the couch watching cartoons with my girls.

A picture I am sharing:
My 13yr old- Bri- at a recent Christmas parade. Can you tell we were cold? lol

Update on the Jolins

I haven't been posting much lately. I have this little thing called "life" that constantly begs for my attention.. lol Actually we've been super busy with end of the season stuff and one great big "clean out" of my house.
I decided to switch out all of my girls' rooms. All 4 of them had to up and move all of their stuff to a different room. We now have the 2 older girls sharing a room and the 2 younger girls sharing a room. They aren't happy about the move, but I believe that there is something invaluably learned when you have to share a living space.
Not only did we switch rooms but we did a deep clean as well. You wouldn't believe the amount of toys we donated. My "baby doll lovin" daughter got rid of more than 1/2 of her dolls! 4 is much more managable number of dolls... she had 10.
If you know me at all, you know that I'm a bit of a pack rat. I find emotional attachment to almost everything. So, getting rid of things is so against my nature. But the sense of relief I feel now is soo worth it. Less is better.. it really is!
So, now all the kids' rooms are done... now it's time to tackle my collection of homeschool stuff...

A Time For Everything Part 2

Acts 3:19 (New King James Version)

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

Thank you Lord for times of refreshing! Let your grace fall freely upon me and my family. We will keep your praises continually on our lips!
Amen!

Nov. 6, 1993

=

Our anniversary marks the day
When we both said "I do."
The two of us became as one,
A marriage bright and new.
Now time has passed; our love is strong;
We passed the early test.
Our tender bond grows with passing time;

Another year to create
precious memories together.
Another year to discover
new things to enjoy about each other.
Another year to build
a life rich in love and laughter.
Another year to strengthen
a marriage that defines "forever."

Happy Anniversary Tad!

I love you.

A Time for Everything

Ecclesiastes 3

A Time for Everything
1 For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
6 A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.

9 What do people really get for all their hard work? 10 I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. 11 Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. 12 So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. 13 And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.

14 And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God’s purpose is that people should fear him. 15 What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before, because God makes the same things happen over and over again.
